Going Grunge

Okay, I've done it, I've gone grunge style!  I can't help it.  When you have an almost 15 year old boy, what other style is there?

The new grunge kits that I have created have masks in them too. These masks can be used a bunch of different ways....from cutting out the picture like the page above or creating just the perfect background photo like the page below.

Check out my products at the DSP store for these new grunge style page kits.

It's about me.

My 25th high school reunion is coming up.  When did I get old enough for that???   I really don't see myself going this year but I registered and filled out the online form for the memory book anyway, I just didn't purchase a ticked.  Okay... yeah, so maybe it was just a chance to talk about ME.  Who am I to pass that up????

So there was only two questions the form besides the basics of name and address.

Favorite High School Memory

(I used Lora Speiser's Remember When page kit plus to make this page.)

September 6, 1986.  I had only been dating Dan Loman for a month and since he was a sophomore away at college, I really didn't know where the relationship was going.  I knew what I was hoping for though.  I'd had a crush on him for two solid years.  I was still pinching myself daily to make sure it wasn't a dream.

It was a gorgeous night for our first football game of the year.  I was riding high being a SENIOR and all.  Sitting up in the bleachers, surrounded by my friends in the marching band, the night couldn't have been better even with the white Barbie boots and a big white plume sticking out the the top of my uniform hat.  I didn't care, we were having a blast cheering on the team.

Sometime during the game, of all people...Dan Loman showed up.  I was pretty darn giddy to say the least.  For the rest of the night, I had butterflies in my stomach and a huge grin plastered across my face.  Someone snapped a picture of us and to this day, it is one of my favorite pictures.

Highlights or Interests Since Graduation

Cheesy to say but all of my childhood dreams have come true...or almost.
(This page with my About a Dream page kit and the add on pack.)
I'll never be a singer, I can't sing.  As a little girl, I knew I wanted to get married, have children, and be a teacher.

( I used Nicole Young's Evanesce page kit for this wedding page.)

(I used Quite Bright Value Collection by Lauren Bavin.)
(Holy Innocents third grade class of the 1992-1993 school year on Halloween.)

Check, check and check.  My teaching days are behind me now to make way for some of the other childhood dreams.

(I used my own Homespun Joy page kit , add on pack and paper set to make this page.)

With my big box of 64 crayola crayons, I also dreamed of one day being an artist.

(I used a retired page kit by Rene Bross.)

Check that one off the list too. Since 2009, I have been a senior designer at Digital ScrapbookPlace, an online community of digital scrapbookers.   I spend a good part of many days makingdigital scrapbook graphics.  I'm actually pretty bad about actually scrapping for myself but I get a real kick out of seeing other people use the graphics that I have created to capture the moments of their lives into books to share with generations to come.

Because of the young authors program in school and my vivid imagination, I also spend hours as a child just pretending to be an author.   Okay, so I'm not there yet but I do get to work with an author.  Lisa Wingate writes wonderful woman's inspirational fiction novels.  Our friendship began with a simple fan email.
(I used my The Hatteras House page kit to make this page.)
We now travel together where it is my job to keep track of the people we meet, photograph EVERYTHING, hold the video camera, sell the books, and sit on the couch at the end of the day and giggle about wearing a shirt backwards.  Turns out we're two peas in a pod.  Lisa encourages me daily about getting my own stories down but I admit, I'm afraid.  Looks like a whole lot of work to me.  Watch for it though, it just might happen.

Some of the other way too cool things that have happened since graduation are my two trips around the globe to China.
(This page was created using a retired DSP Club Digital Collection.)
A girlfriend moved there due to her husband's job and sobbing over a bottle of wine on our last night prior to her leaving, I promised to come visit.  What was I thinking?  That is a LONG flight and the pilots don't land the plane after ten hours just so everyone can get off for recess and run around for a while.
(I used my own Imagene Doll page kit as well as Christine's Amy's Chinese Doodles page kit and Erica's Asian Allure 2 page kit.)
China is so incredibly different but I did enjoy my time spent there.

My husband, son and I enjoy traveling the United States in our vintage 1977 GMC motorhome (yes, the one from the movie Stripes.)

Obviously we did have a few issues but we look forward to plenty more trips.

(Page created with The Game Of Love Value Collection by Carole Harden)

I love my husband and son dearly but am truly thankful to still have all of my girlfriends.  The new ones and the old ones...Mary and Sue with their matching Barbie Boots and big feather plumes were cheering on the football team that warm September night all those years ago, and I am thrilled to say that they are right here with me now as we cheer on new events in our lives and make more memories to cherish.

So that is how I answered the those two questions...minus all of the way cool pictures of course.   Okay, enough talking about myself.  Not that it wasn't fun and all but I do need to get to making up graphics today.

Great Layout

I saw this layout the other day and it really caught my eye.
DSP member Smikeel used this kit of mine along with a Cut Paper Boarder Mask by Lauren Bavin.

I just think she did a really nice job with her clusters and her use of the page.  Great Job Smikeel!!

Registering is EASY

Registering as a member at DSP

So you've seen all of this way cool digital scrapbooking stuff and you say, "How do I do that?"
We'll first you have to get started and the best way to do that is to register as a member at Digital Scrapbook Place.  Registering is FREE and you get a FREE digital scrapbook kit delivered right to your email just to get you started.  After you've registered you can get even MORE FREEBIES in the freebie gallery.

Just click on that word "REGISTER".

And this screen will come up.
Fill out the boxes there and click "Proceed".

The rules are found in the next screen that will come up.  Read them over, they're pretty basic, and then click the little box that says you are okay with them.  Then click "Proceed".

Next you will come to this screen where you will have to think up of a user name and a password.  Write this down somewhere so you don't forget.
Just fill out the banks and enter the anti-spammer code.

Then scroll down
Type in a member's name if you were referred by someone, set your time zone, and click on the appropriate boxes for if you want to receive emails or not.  Then click the box to complete the registration.

Here's the only bummer part of the entire process.  It takes a while for the membership to be recorded and for you to be able to post.  This really does keep the spammers off of the site.  Spammers are no fun.

You'll note in this screen that you'll have full membership after two posts.  Again this keeps spammers from registering and posting spam right away.  Keeps DSP nice for all of us.

So this is what the Teresa Loman forums page will look like once you get registered.

You can try posting in a forum at this time.

But remember, the actual registration can take a while to process.  Up to an hour is not uncommon.  This is a message you may see if you click on the "quote" button in a forum or if you try to edit things in your account while your membership is still being processed.   Just be patient.  While you are waiting, grab the freebie that is by now in your email box and start playing around with your free page kit.  Check out some of the great Tutorials on the site and learn some great tips for creating your first page.

Once your registration is finally processed, you are free to comment on other members' pages.
Scroll down...
and you'll see this comment box.  (If you do not see a comment box, your membership is still being processed.)   Enter your comment in the box and click "Submit."

Easy, right?

Here is a sample of posting a comment in a forum.
Scroll down until you get to the bottom where the comment box is...
and post your comment.

The Welcome Thread is a great place to post your first comment in the forums.  Introduce yourself and get to know some of the other new members.  Come back and chit chat with us often on this thread.  It's our virtual coffee shop if you will.

Remember to check out all of the GREAT tutorials at Digital Scrapbook Place.  Some may seem a little different as the site has undergone a lot of renovations over the past years, but they offer up great tips as to how to add an avatar for yourself or how to edit your own details.

I host a chat on Wednesdays at 9 pm (EST) and immediately following that chat is one just for the newbies on the site.  It's your chance to ask any question you might have about scrapping and the site!  Join us!

Happy scrapping!!
